Newly introduced trains boast a pristine appearance, offering posh interiors, comfortable seating,

, and swift travel. However, the inadequacy of trains during festive and holiday periods remains a pressing issue. Among those most affected are the guest workers, migrant laborers traveling long distances, such as from Trivandrum to Guwahati. Unfortunately, the reality often contrasts sharply with the envisioned comfort. Trains resemble the attached image, with overcrowded compartments, occupied toilets, and insufficiently replenished water tanks. Despite holding legitimate tickets, passengers face inconvenience as they encroach into reserved compartments due to the absence of unreserved sections.

To address this, it falls upon the EMPLOYERS of guest workers to collaborate with railway station officials. They should formally request additional special trains or compartments, both reserved and unreserved, during peak festival times. Copies of these requests should also be forwarded to the Commercial and Operating officers of the Division to ensure ample rail bogies are prepared for the anticipated surge in travelers.
This proactive approach will alleviate the plight of legitimate ticket holders and prevent disruptions.

While air travel was traditionally associated with affluence, modern rail travel offers comparable speed, comfort, and affordability. However, it is imperative for Indian Railways to prioritize the needs of the majority lower-middle-class passengers, especially those reliant solely on rail transport for festive and holiday journeys. This requires a concerted effort from operating and commercial officers to streamline reservation processes, prevent malpractices, and ensure effective supervision of reservation offices.

In conclusion, a collaborative effort and close coordination between relevant authorities can significantly mitigate the hardships faced by passengers seeking train reservations. It is crucial to uphold the accessibility and reliability of rail travel for all socio-economic segments, thereby fostering inclusivity and convenience in India's transportation system.

Tracks are same, coaches are old, engines are old,I am talking of old slow trains, known as express trains. After checking and changing some old coachedsand putting new high powered engines , can IR not convert express trains in to superfast trains. Why very old coaches are in service even today in express trains. If their performance is up to the mark, use them in making new lazdanger trains for short distances. more
Over Population is one of the main reason for atleast 50% of our problems. Does any body talks of that and puts the effort to control it. Some of the people/communities are still producing much more then what the Country/Family can absorb. But it suits to some of the Politicians also. more
As usual very good suggestions Sri Daniel. Hope these ideas are implemented. Hope LC manager is listening. more
I have seen a lot of pillars marked IR at least 20-30 feet on either side of double tracks. Does it mean that the land belongs to the railways? If so, why can't the government ask private players to develop and run private trains? This may help the people more. more
