National Register of Citizens and CAA: Inputs Sought

The Citizenship Amendment Bill has been approved by the Parliament in early December turning it into an act and paving the way for creating a National Register of Citizens. The same has met with opposition from many who feel it may negatively impact them or their family or because it differentiates between people based on their religion.

With this post, we seek inputs on all your concerns regarding the act, the register or its implementation. The idea here it to understand the issue, the risks and then via a separate posts identify mitigations and see if there are certain aspects that must be escalated to the Government for consideration.

We look forward to your inputs! more

It is not the question of wrong or right but whether it hurts the soul of constitution. No one ever thought that this will become so serious dispute. Let us wait for Hon'ble Supreme Court decision on it instead of personal interpretations. more
Correct since Basic Structure of Indian Constitution Specified clearly the Citizenship Mandates in Articles 5 to 10 and 11 more
The statement that "it may negatively impact them or their family or because it differentiates between people based on their religion" is incorrect and misconceived. The fact is that CAA has not changed any provisions of Citizenship Act as it stood before enactment of CAA. CAA is enacted to speed up the process to provide citizenship to certain categories of Refugees living in India who were persecuted in Pakistan, Bangladesh & Afganistan as they were not Muslims. These people had to flee to India to escape atrocities against them due to their faith/religion other than Islam. more
Further CAA NRC are as per Articles 5 to 10 of Constitution . more
Most of the developed countries have some document to show their citizenship. Then why such a hue and cry for this in India. This is a vote bank politics and most of the opposition parties are creating all this mess. All efforts must be made to send back illegal persons staying in India,so that meagre resources can be better utilised. more
We all should support these activities as we ought to know who we are, how many and drive away illegal migrants as they eat away our resources depriving our own legitimate people of necessary resources. We can not run a country where we do not know such things. It is total bankruptacy of minds of people who do not support CAA, NRC etc. It is pitiable that students who ought to understand implications of CAA are foolishly opposing it for artificially supporting people who world over are creating troubles everywhere. more
Protestors misrepresenting NATIONALITY AS RELIGION . Articles 5 to 10 Covered the issues of NRC AND CAA Naming only PAKISTAN more
If Govt. of India intend to implement one nation, one family, i would like to share that those person residing within India has already obtained AADHAR / PAN Card/ RATION Card from thier respective Distt/State, if any one has failed, press release may be circulated amongs the whole India that those failed to obtain such documents which will be certified from the documentary evidence(Eelctricity/Ration/Voter card/ Matriculation certificate of Indian schools and Indian Region Birth Certification those borned beyond 1990 years only).  Only those persons may be treated as 'Indian Nationals'.   Other mendatory clause which will be imposed forcefully as per new dilouge conveying through politically could creat controntration amonst the people.    This is my personal views.
