Municipal Mis-governances

I shared the mid day article yesterday. Apparently most municipalities of Gujarat and ones in Mumbai Navi Mumbai are misleading the Swachh Bharat Mission.

There is an app of Swachhata which as far as I have experienced does not work. These municipalities are basically taking pictures of whatever they are about to clean and then clean it saying we are responsive municipality and hence we should get Swachh Bharat fund and cess and what not.

Why is the Govt not made mandatory for every municipal commissioner to connect with junta in a public forum like this circle. anytime citizen is dealing 1-1 with municipality there is risk of non-delivery harrassment, corruption.

May be after all Swachh Bharat is supposed to be an eyewash. Where is the Urban Development Minister. Where are the ambassadors. All wanting photo op. No serious work.

PM must take this seriously because it does seem his intentions are right. There is just no implementation and action.

I do not conur on spending the swachh bharat cess you take from me on tv ads that no one watches and giving them to munciipalities with zero accountability. more

I fully agree with Shri Ajay Kumar. I sent an email on 23 .december, 2016 to mcahmedabad@ahmedabadcity.gov.in, which is the email address of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) given in their web site, requesting them that a waste collection bin, which was removed from the place where it was well used may be put there again. I had also request that my email be acknowledged in the mean while. NEITHER THE WASTE COLLECTION BIN HAS BEEN PUT THERE NOR HAVE I HEARD FROM THEM. THE ENTIRE PLACE, IN THE MEANWHILE, IS LITTERED WITH WASTE OF ALL SORTS. This bin was placed there in of October 2016.The residents of the area, including those in a near by semi-slum had been diligently depositing the waste in the bin which was placed. I had even seen women from the semi-slum coming even at around 10.00 pm to leave the waste in the bin. The bin was too small and would over flow. instead of providing another bin or a larger bin the Municipal corporation just removed the existing bin in the beginning of May 2016. I could not contact the AMC earlier because the Email address given in their web site did not work. As long as the local municipal authorities do not show seriousness the condition of the concerned city, town or village can not improve. SUCH BODIES SHOULD NOT ONLY NOT BE GIVEN FURTHER FUNDS FOR THIS PURPOSE BUT THE CONCERNED OFFICIAL MUST ALSO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. EVEN THE STATE GOVERNMENTS SHOULD BE CLEARLY TOLD THAT funds given by the Center to them will be dependent on, among other things, on their achievement on improvement in cleanliness in their state. more
I agree with Vijay there should be un biased audit before giving decisions. Mysore is one example. more
There is no transparency and accountability. In this so called digital age, the municipalities do not have website worth the name where public can upload the pictures of heaps of garbage and lodge their complaints. I, after having served in responsible positions for more than forty years, can not find out who my ward office is so that I can approach him for redressal of my grievances. What a pathetic state of affairs. No such information exists anywhere. We have to GO A LONG LONG WAY BEFORE ANY PERCEPTIBLE CHANGE HAPPENS. BUT NOBODY SEEMS TO BE MOVING IN THAT DIRECTION. more
Fully agree. The audit is to be carried by public spirited citizens before funds are released Sent from my HTC ----- Reply message ----- From: "Ajay Kumar" To: Subject: New post "Municipal Mis-governances" in [Swachh Bharat - Clean India] Date: Thu, Jan 12, 2017 11:16 AM more
I agree with Ajaykumar from Patna. No doubt that Mumbai & Many municipalities does show only good part of the city, wherein filth area remains filthy. Mysore has been shown as cleanest, but whenever I visit Mysore I see the Nazarbad area remained filthy as before. No improvement. It is like that since 2005 & Now also like that. I hope central teams visit record such places in every municipality & check how the swatch Bharat mission is handled by municipalities. A unbiased report to be made. more
