Multi Dimentional aspect of Dowry

Hi,
Dowry basically means that since the girl is going to a cost factor for the family and she will be contributing nothing, so the girl's family needs to pay for her expenses. But today things have changed and that is purely because of the financial freedom of the working women, they make substaincial financial contributions and participate in family decision making process.
So the first important point is that women should have financial freedom.
For that, there should be more schools excusively for girls in the rural areas.
Some colleges exclusively for girls in areas where their participation is less than 10% example : veternary science. For this the corporate education groups and government should come together.
For more inclusive growth at the bottom of the pyramid, more job opportunities should be created for women by vocation training of Driving, mechanic etc. why can't a woman be a plumber or electrician or carpenter. Short certification s for cooking, bakery etc will also help. They shuld be flexi timed so that poor girls who get married at an early age can come after their household work is over.
For financial freedom, entreprenuer ship should be ardently promoted in women. Government should go to schools and colleges and advertise about the advantages given to female entreprenuers. Separate award functions and financial schemes for them. IIMs have not made much contribution in our growth, but here they can have a development and incubation cell for lady entreprenuers who want to start but do not have experience.
Weak law and order system first affacts the weakest i the society, women, children etc. So government should have better safety measures and also TRAINING IN SELF DEFENCE SHOULD BE MADE COMPULSORY IN ALL SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES, esp for girls
One more important aspect of dowry is female infanticide but there is one more reason why people do not want daughters...because there will be no one to take care of them in the old age.
This is very important that government in PPP comes up with good old age homes with all facilities and runs them as a pension plan , where people can book them on emis, they should be with optimum medical facility and other basic necessities. Even parents with sons would prefer them because no one wants to live with a educated and earning daughter in law :) It is true, they would rather live with their daughter if need be. This very basic thing will solve the problem of their retirement making the son and the daughter practically equal. more

More schools for girls in rural areas. Proper toilet facilities should be ensured in these schools. School level education should be free for girls. Counseling to be given at schools by teachers for parents to make them educate their daughters. Counseling girls to pursue their education. More scholarships for girls by State and Central Governments. Counseling for girls for pursuing a career. Once every girl start earning they can come in equal terms with boys and raise their voice against dowry system. more
Things are beginning to change, we need to do something about women empowerment and not something against dowry, that will happen incidentally more
I am searching for a sister in law on matrimony sites and it is a pleasant surprise that people are now writing on their profile that those who are interested in dowry, please do not contact. more
