Measuring 1 year of Swachh Bharat Performance
As we come up on the 1 year anniversary of Swachh Bharat on October 2nd, 2015, we will be conducting a poll to get an assessment of state of things from a Citizens and Community perspective.
The poll will be on the same lines as the 6 month poll in March. We would like to seek your inputs on any metrics that you would like to see evaluated in addition to what is already being planned.
Active citizen participation, civic sense adoption/enforcement and civic body participation is critical to the success of this mission and we hope that this poll will give us a realistic insight on things from your perspective.

Dear sir,I do not think we have moved ahead much in this Mission.Heavy penalty should be imposed for littering at public places.That should be recovered immediately.Otherwise this Mission may remain an eyewash like other govt. schemes limited to paper even after 5 years. We talk of smart cities .Can a dirty city look or feel smart. I think Swatchh is prerequisite. Heaps of stinking waste/filth at each street corner present a very depressing look and invite animals like dogs pigs and insects promoting diseases. Each household, commercial house or industry has duty to manage its waste in decentralized manner. Government bodies may provide training or awareness and organize workshops. A treasonable time frame be fixed for commencing the process. Message in clear terms need to be conveyed to each and every citizen and managing agencies. Strict penalties may be imposed on defaulters. Workshops by experts can serve the purpose. We had done it at our housing society at Sector 55 Gurgaon. Awareness workshops for children, ladies and maids were organised and food waste is daily dumped in compost pits. Dry waste is disposed to kabadis for recycling. Computer waste has its own way of disposal. Experts can provide guidance First and foremost training is segregation at generation point, collection and disposal at decentralized places. Food waste can generate cooking gas, energy and compost and enhance financial health of manager/owner. more

Sir, I am a resident of Nanded (Maharashtra) popularly known for the holy shrine of 10th Sikh Guru Govindsinghji Saheb. The city had got a huge amount of Rs. 1700 Crores in 2008 during the 300th Guru-ta-Gaddi program for the development of the city. We, the citizens, are eager to know the whereabouts of such a large amount of money as our City might have become SMART CITY with that amount only. All committees which had been caming to inspect the quality of work were also "managed" to give better performance certificate. Nearly 480 Crores are said to have been spent on renewal of drainage lines but the situation of our drainage system is critical and so is the case of garbage management. Digging of roads, opening the drainage chambers, huge garbage on road corners, stray animals seating in the middle of the road, dirty-dusty city roads with full of potholes is the fate of Nanded. How can there be Swatch Bharat when a major city like Nanded is paid no attention by the Government. more
