Jobs and internship

Jobs are very scarce in India and abroad due to global slowdown. However, In India the scenario is different and is due to increase in educated class of people and very few industrialized states. The competition is intense.

Moreover, vacancies are not filled on merit. The same are filled by close references in the name of friends, relatives, language, caste and creed.

Most importantly, job cuts have become very common in many companies in India and the logical reasoning behind terminating one's job remains a question mark. Irrespective of the performance and impeccable behaviour of an individual, his/her job is not secured.

Mediocre and low performers manage to hang on to their jobs, whereas top and above average performers are shown the door. Workplace bullying and harrasment by immediate supervisor is very common.

Hence, organizations suffer from lack of business and bottom line growth resulting in lesser revenue to the country, thereby affecting the GDP.

Need to have a specific bill passed in the parliament to audit private companies for all these inefficiencies as government entities are on the right track. more

Exactly. It is high time internal management of private sector is straightened out through law. I am witness to the Harvard educated Arun Firodia of Bajaj Tempo Group slapping his GM - Production on shop-floor. When I tried my luck with business, I was shocked when Purchase Manager of Grasim Industries Ltd. Nagda told me bluntly, they always place orders with Bania suppliers so I stand little chance of success as I am not a Bania !! No wonder, country was looted / our women raped / Hindus converted, ruled over for hundreds of years !! We deserved our past, with such a stinking / fragmented society / mentality. I NEVER EVER encouraged anyone to do MBA and go for private jobs in my life. It is a horrible career, to say the least. more
More employment generation and creation of more professionals, entrepreneurs etc. may be created with the help of TRANSFORM INDIA, MAKE IN INDIA AND STARTUP & STANDUP INDIA through more practical approach of inventions, marketing strategies of agricultural products, awareness of ago-technical productive based, productive yield of fertilized land, knowledge to the educated & uneducated youth in the village, effective and fast rail road transportation of agricultural products etc. more
A very harsh truth. If these are brought to the attention of the present dispensation at the Centre we all could hope for a practical time bound solution. Jobs have become Freebies galore during election seasons. A large chunk never want to EARN a living, when some political groups by proclaiming ALL FREES and BACKDOOR offers to the undeserving, ignoring the meritorious and committed ones, GIFT themselves the most extravagant lives for themselves and their future generations. more
Global slowdown is a contributing factor but the most significant factor impacting job reduction is due to exponential technology change. The low / entry level jobs are reducing significantly in manufacturing and IT industries especially due to automation - machines will increasingly replace humans in these areas in the coming years. This change is unstoppable; machines / computers / robots will continue to replace in higher and higher level of jobs traditionally done by humans. People seeking jobs should pick up new and key niche skills in their area to be in demand in the job market. As examples, IT industry will look for more and more people with skills in data analytics, mobile technologies, data security, internet of things (e.g., sensor interface programming), robotics and artificial intelligence. Reduction in jobs at the entry level also results in a cascade reduction in jobs in the middle and senior levels. more
It is true that India lacks in professionalism in the Industry. Merit and hard work may not get the desired award many a times. This can change only when economy improves and competition increases. Nehruvian philosophy of socialism in the last so many years has created inefficiency and white elephants everywhere. Public sector and private sector both look at sops from govt all the time or loan from bank. I am sure as India merges with world economy this inefficiency will go and we have a better working conditions. I do not think monitoring of private sector will give any benefit as they can always produce a beautiful document to convince auditors. Coming years are going to be crucial for our survival and growth. This can only come from bright, honest hardworking people who are professionals and not paper pushers or polishwalas. more
