IS MADURAI A PRIDE OF TAMIL NADU?

I had been to Madurai recently to visit temples in and around it. Madurai is known for Meenakshi temple, a city which she is said to rule. I do not understand why the local people are out to defame her. The city is in chaos with over-crowded streets, lack of discipline and some unscrupulous tourist city establishments such as hotels and autos whose charges are ₹120-150 for a 2km trip. I did find the garbage removers working very early in the morning but their efforts are in vain because filth, garbage and leaking sewers double up during the day.

We stayed at a hotel in Town hall Street. There was a pond there in total neglect which is an eye-sore to look at. I do not know whose responsibility it is to maintain the large pond, the municipal Corporation or its land owner which could be some temple. The area itself is bustling with a lot of thriving business activity, with labrinthine narrow gallys, where hardly a bicycle can pass through. But the lanes are so dirty. There is no water in the pond. The banks of the pond is littered with all kind of wastes. What would it take to beautify that pond?. It is sad that the Corporation or possibly temple owner of that area or the business community around that area or the NGOs taking no notice of this eye-sore. Such is the community responsibilty in a temple city which could be a haven of tourist attraction. more

The problem of lack of cleanliness is not confined to Madurai alone. It is prevalent throughout the country. Difference is only in degree. Probably it is in our DNA. Our another problem is politicizing everything. In stead of fighting over right to light the lamp on a particular place in Thirupparankundram, the energy, money and time spent on that issue could have been spent in reducing the filth, removing the garbage and keeping the city cleaner. more
It is indeed a pity that we are far ahead of many countries in terms of education and human development indices, yet we lag behind when it comes to Swachhata (cleanliness). Why is this so? Is it because of extreme poverty? No. Is it because people lack food? Again, no. Today, numerous government schemes, charitable individuals, and community groups ensure that no one goes hungry. Temples regularly provide nutritious meals, not just on special occasions but on a daily basis in many places. Yet, the common complaint remains the same—street garbage, and this issue cuts across all social and economic classes. We have seen countless instances where Indians behave responsibly and follow civic rules in developed countries. However, when the same individuals return home—even for a short stay in residential areas—we often witness a 180-degree change in behaviour. Even the socially people in higher plane economically taking the pet dogs in public places never bother clear the poo of their pets. This is never happens in developed countries. We have been really proud to be respected highly in the western countries and bring lot of credentials and bocquetts our administratore should make every citizen realize theis . more
Hindu pilgrimage places/temples have been neglected purposely allowing it to make it ugly looking, difficult and uncomfortable for Hindus to visit. Same was the situation at all places but after BJP Governments in different States, situation has changed. As for Meenakshi Temple, Tamilnadu Government is known for its anti-Hindu agenda and will certainly ignore, neglect and not do anything to make temple visits pleasant. more
Very sad state of affairs. We had been to Madurai for temple visit about 15 days back and felt the same way. more
Tamil Nadu is being RULED AND MANAGED by anti-hindu forces. Therefore, forget, why? One can not fight with greedy and dependent political rulers more
