Is it prudent to use Farm Lands for Industrial use.

Dear Sir,
We do not have a policy in place to reserve farm lands for agriculture resources. Good productive lands that return crops 2-3 times a year are easily diverted for industrial use, especially those industries which do not need them.

As an example I put forward the Hinjewadi and Pirangut regions around Pune. The farm lands in the region used to return 3 crops per year, but now this entire area is lost to software and unplanned growth.

Software & ITES industries do not require water or farm lands, instead they can survive on waste lands with an infrastructure of only Good Telecommunication, Piped water, 24 hr electricity and airport vicinity. Although we can account good Law & Order situation as an important social attribute.

While we are losing ITES opportunities in 1st & 2nd tier cities we are not evaluating to use resources in 3rd & 4th tier cities where the cost of labour and investment shall be drastically low. We are also loosing good farm lands which could be our food passports for growing population.

Alternatively, if barren and rocky lands around cities are developed if incentives on solar power usage, we shall get the benefit of infrastructure development by non-govt sector for the benefit of all.

We seriously are not ready for the growing challenges of an increasing population and if BJP needs to be in power for next 20 years a proper vision and focus needs to be established for using resources, developing the old one and avoid wastage as per the case described above.

Lastly, I only hope this message reaches honourable PM.

Sincerely
Anand Khatavkar more

YOU ARE RIGHT SRI SASIKUMR. STRICT APPLICAION OF AGRICULTURE SHALL BE IMPLEMENTED IN GOVERNMENT LANDS THAT WERE ALLOTTED TO UP-LIFT AGRICULTURE AND COMMERCIAL CULTIVATION IF THOSE LANDS ARE NOT IN CULTIVATION NOW . THE SAME LANDS IF ANY OTHER LAND-LESS POOR DESIRE FOR SELF CULTIVATION, BE AWARDED AS PER THE LAWS ALREADY IN PROCESS BUT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF WHICH IS NEGLECTED. DUE TO THIS, THE GOVERNMENTS' MISSION TO INCREASE AGRICULTURE IN INDIA THROUGH ALLOTMENT TO LAND-LESS POOR IS PURPOSEFULLY MIS-LEAD NOW-A-DAYS . more
Another dangerous trend is that land owners purposely keep their agricultural land idle for year hoping to declare them as barren and convert to commercial/industrial land. If any one keeps agricultural land idle for three years - land should be taken away and given to someone who is willing to do agriculture. more
PLEASE LET US IN THE FIRST PLACE TRY TO EMPHASIZE ON THE NEEDED ARREST OF CONVERTING THE CULTIVATING LANDS TO PLENTY USELESSLY KEPT DRY YEARS TOGETHER AND STILL BY THE REAL ESTATE STALWARTS IN AND AROUND ALL THE TOWNS AND VILLAGES ONLY FOR CREATION OF BLACK MONEY BUSINESSING AND AS A SUPPORTIVE OF TAX EVADERS BESIDES CARRYTING TOWARDS THE SAFE INVESTMENT . THIS IS WHAT ALL HAVE TO THINK. LET US NOT ALLOW FURTHER TO CONVERT AND CREATE DRY IDLE LANDS IN THE WAY OF REAL ESTATE LAYOUTS WHERE NO RESIDENTIAL COMMITMENT PLANS ARE PROGRAMMED. PLEASE LET US BE SERIOUS ON THIS ISSUE ALSO WHICH IS UN-KNOWINGLY IN MULTIPLE REDUCTION OF CULTIVABLE LANDS IN AND AROUND ALL TOWNS AND CITIES. more
