Is BIS a failed organisation

I want to know what all has this BIS done in the last 6 months. What standards have they made. Atleast consumer department made 4-5 important policies in last 3 years and passed Consumer Protection Act and acted on many concerns raised by us even during GST time. BIS on other hand seems like an organisation which takes long time to make standards.

We have given inputs on Hallmarking, Women Standards, Health, Education, Services, Products but not a single draft has been made by them and released. Very lame. LocalCircles please escalate this to Consumer or Commerce Ministry.

If an organisation cant even take public feedback how will they ever make standards that solve problem of masses. more

Absolutely! A failed organisation not in tune with present day manufacturing processes and materials used. Need a complete overhaul. more  
BIS from what i have experienced is a very lethargic organisation and standards formulation takes a long time and implementation is also not very effective. more  
Additionally bribery is another issue with such organisations. more  
Non of the Govt organisations are proactive.Even after bringing an issue to them,they will not take any action in time. more  
The BIS Act, 1986 provides for the establishment of a Bureau for the harmonious development of the activities of standardization, marking and quality certification of goods and for connected matters. more
