IRCTC Ticket Booking rules - keep them handy
In a notification earlier, IRCTC said that now users are allowed to book up to 12 tickets in a month, if users get themselves verified through their Aadhaar number along with at least one passenger also being verified through Aadhaar.
At the same time, no Aadhaar identification will be needed for booking up to six tickets in a month - it will continue to remain same.
2. Timings:
The IRCTC allows passengers to book their train ticket in advance between 12.20 am to 11.45 pm every day.
3. Changes in tickets:
Facility to change passengers name is not available on IRCTC website. However, Name can be changed at Railway counters as per extant Railway rules. However, one can change boarding point on IRCTC website.
4. Payment method:
All payment options viz. Credit cards, Debit cards, Net banking, Wallets and Multiple payment service etc. are available on Make Payment Page at IRCTC.
5. Concessions:
Senior Citizen Concession, Divyaang Concession and Journalist Concessions are allowed on booking tickets on IRCTC as per extant Railway rules.
6. How many quotas are there?
At Indian Railways there are six quotas such as General, Ladies, Senior Citizen, Divyaang, Tatkal and Premium Tatkal Quota. However, tatkal quota is given after when every other reserved tickets are booked. There is a specific timing for booking tatkal tickets.
7. How to locate your tickets?
On IRCTC website, you can visit MY ACCOUNT > My Transactions > Booked Ticket History.
8. Verification of the ticket:
A passenger will receive an Electronic Reservation Slip - printed in standard stationery/VRM/SMS sent by IRCTC along with the original ID of one of the passenger traveling on a PNR. By presenting the PNR number a passenger can check the verification, status and timing of the train. more
