IRCTC Reservation Portal - Inputs on Root Causes

1. The CAPTCHA should be simple and easy to read
2. There is no provision seen in the portal for onward journey tickets/circular journey tickets
3. TOD filed are never attended for months
4. The website does not support for selection of seat as in the case of airline websites
5. Senior Citizens does not know which berth they will get. it will be displayed only after the booking more

Following are certain options available(only if tickets are available, not for waitlist) Book only if confirm berths are allotted Book , only if all berths are allotted in same coach Book, only if at least 1 lower berth is allotted Book, only if 2 lower berths are allotted Preferred Coach ID Not sure how complex it would be to allow user to select seat. Number of transactions happening on irctc is pretty huge compared to airlines. In airlines, people have to pay extra for most of seats(if seats are selected while booking). If they add seat selection procedure, then it will increase ticket booking time. By the time a person selects the seat, all the tickets would have been gone more
