Installing/Maintaining Dustbins: Inputs Sought

One of the common issues posted by many of you is on lack of dustbins and their effective management. It is true that the country needs a million dustbins and their effective management. With this post we would like to seek your inputs on how this can be made possible with participation from urban local bodies, corporates, RWAs, market associations, NGOs and others.

We look forward to your inputs!

I happen to visit USA. What I found that three types of dustbins are provided to each house or establishment. The solid waste is collected by the municipal authorities on a fixed day in a week, which is disposed of after recycling. All the streets are washed every fortnight mechanically. Will our municipal authorities take effective steps to implement such system in our country. more

Along with start of dustbins by the local bodies from their funds or by donation from the willing people every person ,child to old man/woman should be taught to adopt this method as cleaning of their house. It is their duty to use dustbin without fail instead of throwing dirt outside.Other people after seeing any mistake either should correct or let he get it corrected.I am seeing in city like Singapore ,how all are much disciplined. more
1) Corporates can get together by pulling their CSR fund and provide dustbins to the local bodies. 2) NGO's can keep track of the dustbins and check for its proper usage. more
