Inputs Sought: Crackers on Diwali

63% of you have suggested that you experienced reduction in crackers after 10 pm in your city and area. This is a good collective accomplishment by our circle which played a key role in creating awareness about No Crackers after 10 pm.

We would like to seek your inputs on the role played by urban local body or local police to achieve this. Also, if there were any others like schools in your area, local media, etc, do share that as well.

We are glad that there was a reduction in crackers this year and want to ensure all such avenues are effectively tapped into for similar campaigns in the future.

Thanks for your participation!

We are happy that in Hyderabad ,the government has restricted the permission to those who can follow fire safety rules for cracker shops. But the net result is availability of less shops ,but the noise of cracker bursting went on up to 2 am and in prime area like Raj Bhavan Road no police could be found stopping this noise ,the old, infirm, sick , heart patients had to early in the morning to stop in the neighbour hood houses, but of no use. The permission not to play bands , music ,bursting crackers beyond 10pm went for a toss.It was hell as usual . more
Delhi no cracker ban by NGT should be announced for all India. Localcircles should take up the cause. more
Lot of people seem to be for the ban . Why allow some who are

insensitive to the environment to burst crackers . more
It is not the accomplishment of the circle. It is due to the good work of law enforcement agencies & judiciary which laid down the limit. It is gradually reducing since the court's ruling which compelled law enforcing agencies to act tough on the errant people. more
I do not think the Urban Local bodies have taken any attempt, but Police did and public volunteered due to awareness in the media. more
The reduction in crackers and the wind flow on the night of diwali did help to reduce the smoke but the dust that it has left behind has made breathing virtually impossible. We need to look at alternatives to crackers and we need to do it within the next 12 months before next diwali. This is killing our children. more
