HYGENE , CLEANLINESS AND SYSTEMATIC GARBAGE DISPOSAL IN US

I AM REPORTING FROM A BAY AREA CITY IN US WHERE I CAME FOR A SHORT VISIT.THE ABOVE SYSTEM HERE IS AMAZING!WITH PLANNED HOUSING COLONIES AND LAY OUTS NOWHERE EITHER IN THE MARKET PLACE,CITIES,WORKPLACES,HOUSING COLONIES,GARBAGE,DIRT,FILTH ARE FOUND HERE. STINKING AND BAD SMELL,HEAPING OR MOVEMENT OF GABAGE OPENLY LIKE IN INDIA IS NOT FOUND HERE.I HAVE NOT FOUND EVEN A SINGLE HOUSE FLY,MOSQUITO,COCROACH,LIZARD,STRAY DOG,CROW,ANT OR ANY OTHER INSECT HERE.EVEN FISH/MEAT SELLING PLACES ARE NOT EMITTING BAD SMELL OR GARBAGE OPENLY FOUND THERE.EVERY HOUSE KEEPS 3 SEPERATE CLOSED FIBRE GARBAGE DUMPING BOXES.ON THURSDAY NIGHTS THESE WHEELED BOXES ARE KEPT OUTSIDE THE HOUSES.ON FRIDAY MORNING THE MECHANISED GARBAGE COLLECTING VEHICLE COLLECTS THE GARBAGE(BIO,PLASTIC,GLASS SEPERATELY).ONCE IN A WEEK THE GARDNER COMES WITH A VACUME CLEANER AND BLOWER AND CLEANS THE COMPOUND AND OUTSIDE THE HOUSE OR FLAT AS THE CASE MAY BE.THEY TRIM ORNAMENTAL BUSH ,FLOWER PLANTS,TRIM THE LAWN ETC.THEY DO THEIR WORK SILENTLY AND GO.EVERY HOUSE HAS A LAWN,BACKYARD,FLOWER PLANTS AND FRUIT TREES.THERE ARE NO THEFTS EVEN IF WE KEEP OUR BLONGINGS OUTSIDE.DRAINAGE IS UNDERGROUND AND NOT VISIBLE OUTSIDE ANYWHERE.WATER AND ELECTRICITY ARE AVAILBLE 24X7 AND WITHOUT CUTS EVEN FOR A MOMENT.THERE IS NO POLLUTION UNLIKE INDIAN CITIES.I HAVE NOT SEEN SMOKE EMITTING VEHICLE HERE.EVERY ONE BEHAVES WITH CIVIC SENSE RESPECTING OTHERS CONVENIENCE.EVEN THOUGH LOT OF INDIANS AND OTHER NATIONALS ARE HERE,NO ONE SPITS IN PUBLIC PLACES LIKE IN INDIA OR ANY AFRICAN COUNTRY.ALL THE CIVIC WORKERS,GARDNERS ETC ARE NON-AMERICANS.THE ROADS AND OTHER CONSTRUCTIONS ARE OVER 50 YEARS OLD BUT YET THEY ARE BUILT VERY STRONG MAINTAINED NEAT AND CLEAN.THE ROADS ARE BRUSHED AND CLEANED ONCE IN A WEEK.WILL SUCH THINGS HAPPEN IN INDIA INSPITE OF HAVING SO MUCH MAN POWER?THE PEOPLE AND THE GOVT SHOULD HAVE THE WILL. more

I agree. The key to this is EDUCATION. I remember watching simple cartoons that inculcates civic sense, cleanliness etc. when i was young, in DOORDARSHAN. They were simple cartoons and drive home the message. May be, like we do for cigarettes, the GOVT should impose simple civic message CARTOONS in all the TV channels, which are watched by millions. After all, we are a country which still values humanity, which does not need laws to impose cleanliness. Educate and Eradicate...!!! more
Incidentally I had visited USA & Oman. What is narrated is true & faithfully followed by every citizen as discipline. It is possible even in India if we start making efforts at-least in smaller clusters in cities. People will start copying such good practices. more
I HAVE SEEN SUCH SYSTEMS WORKING IN CITIES LIKE MUSCAT IN OMAN.IN US,THERE IS MATURITY OF CIVIC SENSE;IN THE GULF COUNTRIES,THERE IS FEAR OF LAW.IN INDIA BOTH THE THINGS ARE NOT THERE BUT INDIANS WHEN GO ABROAD,THEY BEHAVE WELL AND ADJUST.WHY CANT WE DO IT IN OUR OWN COUNTRY?SENSE OF BELONGINGNESS AND PATRIOTISM,RESPECT FOR OTHERS AND OTHERS RIGHTS SHOULD BE NURTURED IN US.IF WE DEVELOP THIS SYTEM AND KEEP OUR CITES/COUNTRY CLEAN,THE HEALTH OF OUR PEOPLE WILL IMPROVE AND WE CAN SAVE MILLIONS AND MILLIONS OF RUPIES TO BE SPENT ON MEDICINES,HOSPITALS AND DOCTORS AND MEDICAL BILLS. more
