Hotel pricing must be capped

I couldn’t agree more with the LocalCircles survey in the news that says hotel prices must be capped at 2X the rack rate.

Surya hotel in Friend Colony Delhi where a room is 10-15K a night is charging 69K plus taxes a night. This is plain ridiculous. We have an event at home and need 4 rooms there for family travelling from overseas. Now looking for other accommodations.

Sad the loot continues like this with consumers and the Govt does absolutely nothing. more

Do you the Govt to do everything for you? It will then be what China or Russia are doing. All Govt and no private enterprise. more
I don't understand the requirement for capping. It's a free market. No one is forcing the OP to book at that exorbitant price. If you don't like it, move on to the one which suits your budget. If they're charging 69k/night, maybe they have the customer base who can afford. If they don't have, it's upto them to scale it down or keep empty rooms. It's their establishment. They can charge whatever they feel like. It's your money. You're entitled to book whatever establishment you deem suitable. That's a basic principle. Just because you really want a particular establishment doesn't mean that they're obliged to rent it you at a price you feel is fair. more
Yes.List out police station where to complain unanimously more
Who should they cap this?? Do you live in USSR? Do you not understand the principals of economy? It is a free country, you think they are too high do not do business with them. Asking government to cap a price of a private business is the a thing of low information person. more
it looks like may hay while the sun shines and similar to airlines making profit during kumb mela and also during long weekends or during festivals like deepavali or navaratri etc where they charge huge rates and similar is the issue with hotels when some major event occurs in any city and only the hike may be different in different cities. Govt knows about this but unfortunately turns a blind eye for all these kind of issues which clearly shows govt is hand in hand with these organisations whereas knowing well this is going to happen and put other people who would come on official duty or functions should be made to pay such high prices due to Govt booking all the hotels for their delegates. This is sheet apathy towards normal citizens and trying to please only the foreign guests. When will govt wake up to reality more
