Check the invoice/invoice date: Make sure the car is invoiced on or after the effective date of the new tax slab (22 Sept 2025) if you’re targeting smallcar category for the 18% rate. Check your model’s classification: Engine size, petrol vs diesel/CNG, length of vehicle – all determine which slab it falls into. Ask the dealer explicitly: What rate of GST + cess (if any) is being applied, and whether the manufacturer / dealer is passing on the tax benefit fully. Compare before vs after effective cost: Even a small percentage reduction in tax can lead to savings of many tens of thousands of rupees (or lakhs) depending on the model’s price. Consider your timing: If you act now (or soon) you might catch the benefit of new slab; if you buy a model that shifts into higher slab, you might pay more. Look at the total cost to you: On-road price = ex-showroom + GST + registration + insurance + any dealer margins. The GST cut is helpful but is only one component. more

There is no change in 18% GST on member's contribution towards common expenses in a Cooperative Housing Societies/RWAs as GST Reform even though Kerala High Court has termed it as Unconstitutional. This shows total non application of mind by GST Council and Finance Minister. They simply approve whatever is put before them by Bureaucrats. more
