Great achievement LC members

I am hopeful that tatkal scamming of citizens by agents for railway tickets will stop from today thanks to each LocalCircles member who participated.

Aadhaar verification will be mandatory for Tatkal train tickets purchased through the IRCTC website or its mobile app, effective July 1, 2025. A one-time password (OTP) will be required for Tatkal train ticket booking starting from July 15, which means customers will receive a code on their device while booking the ticket.
Tatkal tickets booked at computerised Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters will also require OTP authentication. more

इस लेवल पर आम आदमी को राहत की संभावना कम दिखती है एजेंट कुछ ना कुछ रास्ता निकाल ही लेंगे more
Aadhaar authentication is at the user level, not passenger level. Agents can book tickets for passengers with their aadhaar and seel it to someone else in black. The passenger names can be fictitious. The solution is for The TTE to check the id of the passenger, instead of just asking for seat number or name. more
Good suggestion. In the last few months travelling between Chennai and Hyderabad and Bangalore, I found that the TTEs were just asking for the names and moving on. It will be good if there is a more robust system of verification of the passengers - either paper or phone ticket. Ideally, the Aadhar numbers should be mandatory for all eTickets so that these can be verified by showing the Aadhar of all passengers. Of course, TTE babus will resist it as it involves more work for them. more
Indian ingenuity and resolve to outsmart systems is unparalleled. We have to wait and watch the new process to see how well it works. In any case it is a positive step at least to do something. more
Another nice one by this government. Not only brokers and greedy bookies are cut off, it will also enhance the security. I hope there is a provision for those who do not hold Adhar card as well as many overseas citizens like myself do not have one. more
The members should continue to watch counter moves by brokers babu. The Aadhar based OTP will make task of brokers babus difficult , yet still they can manipulate the system. So let us hope an ordinary Indian gets TATKAL ticket. more
Yes. We have to be vigilant. The travel agents and unscrupulous babus are capable of stymying the system in myriad ways. more
