Free distribution of Prosthetic Bra at AIIMS

Continuing with my last post, pleased to inform that AIIMS Delhi while approving the Prosthetic Bra developed by Win Over Cancer, has also allowed them to hold a weekly OPD at AIIMS for free distribution of this Bra to their patients.
Who needs prosthetic bra and why?
Mastectomy (Breast removal) in Breast cancer patients results in body imbalance causing dropped shoulders and bended spine. This results in chronic back pain in these patients. As a remedy, doctors advise them to wear prosthetic Bra.
How does it work?
Prosthetic Bra has a pocket where a prosthesis is inserted to substitute removed breast. The weight of prosthesis balances the body weight.
Current options:
Imported silicon based prosthesis are available at a cost of Rs 8,500 to Rs 10,500. Due to high cost, only 10% patients use it.
Some NGOs are distributing free foam based prosthesis. Foam does not carry weight and defeats the purpose. Further it is allergic.
The prosthesis developed by Win Over Cancer is made from Hypoallergic material and is customized as per patient's weight. It has been approved by several oncologists and now AIIMS has also approved it.
Win Over Cancer is distributing it free of cost.

I like the logic for using prosthetic bra which other than providing body balance would also make women less conscious on amputated breast. more
