For improvement in reservations

For better utilization of the available berths, seat allocation should only be done on the last day when the reservation chart is issued. It will help to utilize seats/ berths on all intermediate stations and meet requirements of lower berths etc based on requirement of ladies/ Senior citizens. Confirmation of reservation can be done on booking. Something similar to AC First Class where berth/ coupe is allotted on the last day. more

Although reservation booking start 60 days in advance, but in most of the trains, getting confirm ticket is very difficult even when we book tickets 60 days prior to journey. Most of the Indian make plan for travelling 10-15 days in advance only. My suggestion is Like Tatkal, we should have one more category, where ticket will be definitely confirm. Booking in this category should be open only 7 days prior to journey and should be close 2 days prior. All tickets booked under this category will be guaranteed confirm. For last moment planner, we have Tatkal scheme. more
We always give choice for a berth and how many times do we get it? Very rare. At the end we compromise with what ever we get. As such by introduction of Tatkal and premium tatkal availability of berth in normal chain is negligible. With the proposed mechanism, at least ladies and senior citizens will get their due. The berth preference will as such be taken while booking the ticket and will be accommodated to the extent possible. more
Sorry to say .... this is highly impractical concept. On contrary, the passenger/customer should be abale to book the seat/berth of his/her choice. After all, we are paying quite a lot of money these days. And this should be applicable to even 1AC reservation. It cannot be supported that we shall pay a high amount of money for 1AC booking, and we do not have right to chose the berth. more
