Food safty
Food safety is a critical requirement for a healthy society. FSSAI sets up standards, regulates, monitors and implements food safety acts rules and regulations. That is my understanding. Obviously, it has to have penetration and reach across India and will make every efforts to make its presence felt and be effective in its functioning. It is nice that it is trying to set up a communication channel with public and inviting comments, suggestions. I request FSSAI to update its website with how it is going about this function, what kind of organizational strength, resources and infrastucture like labs etc does it have. There is not much more information besides the food safety and standards act. The safety rules are more in evidence by violation at every street corner. pl do this on priorty more

1. FSSAI can publish brief requirements for various food items for the understanding of layman in its website besides laying down elaborate standards. 2. It can educate and alert users about adulteration and other malpractices indulged by unscrupulous elements, ways for detecting them, details of monitoring and reporting authorities for the offence etc. 3. The language should be simple for common man to follow. 4. Govt. and Concerned department should encourage and facilitate formation of consumer vigilance groups in towns, cities, districts etc to promptly detect, prevent, and report food safety issues. more

As long as we r lenient towards any corrupt systems, we can not set right any thing in this country. We should first seriously attack any corrupt system to scare any wrong doing. This can happen only if we citizens become more responsible in our duties n responsibilities, besides knowing the rights too. Otherwise, we cannot help a constant deterioration in the society we live in. more

PM should take at least once the class of senior executives of FSSAI and set targets for them. They need some harsh ragging. Monthly monitoring by PMO. more
