Food Safety in Madhya Pradesh - Inputs Sought

We would like to seek your inputs on what are the various issues you see in regards to food safety in your city in Madhya Pradesh. These could be in regards to artificial ripening, packaged food, food product itself, restaurant hygiene levels, street food, adulteration, etc.
We would also look at how district food safety officials can be given access to the circle followed by a city level food safety/consumer circle in your city.

1. Food & Drugs Controller in the state need a big shake up. The lab on wheels with the office is out of order or made out of order for last one year. Inspectors do a cursory job of checking & testing the products takes a long time. Govt. appoints a IAS officer who treats it as a sideline posting. 2. The state of sanitation & hygiene in road side restaurants and shops, smaller hotels and thelawalas selling cooked snacks & food is much below the desired levels because most of staff and venders live in slum areas. Large number of people use these facilities at the risk of their health. more

Adulteration in food products to be banned and Judiciary to be more prompt for the reported cases especially in Milk & Milk products in Gwalior region. more
