Fixing App Taxi Services: Action Needed from Citizens
As many of you are aware, LocalCircles with your participation has been working towards sensitizing the Government to better regulate the app taxi industry. Earlier this week in Mumbai, as citizens struggled with rain, these aggregators charged 2-5X prices for the taxi rides. Below is the latest survey report in which many of you have participated. LocalCircles has written to Nitin Gadkari and 12 State Chief Ministers to include the above citizen asks in the aggregator rules under the new Motor Vehicle Act 2019.
We strongly suggest that you take the time and share it as well with your Chief Minister as well as on whatspp and other social media. Till everyone does their bit, change will not come!

As suggested by Mr. Amitava Sur, senior citizen, belt usage either in the front or rear seats must be made mandatory in all passenger cars. As already highlighted, there has to be governmental regulations to govern taxi app services and strictly enforced with punitive measures for wrong doings. Certainly, these taxi operators must not fleece the customers especially at times of natural calamities. Again, surge price needs to be regulated. Further, cancellation by drivers without information and rerouting, must be reckoned seriously. more
There should be some regulations to control the fares as well as cancellation by drivers. Due to last minute cancellation individuals face lot many issues. These are good at times but it should be more customer friendly in providing the services more
Request urgent action on fully functional rear seat belts in all app cabs.
I, a senior citizen, living alone in Kolkata, is now suffering from left knee pain after an injury in a cab, which met with an accident in December 2019.
It has been very difficult to manage due to challenged mobility.
I find all Uber cabs in Kolkata have rear seat belts, none of which is functional. more
There should be local Ombudsman - He should be changed from a panel of 12 in year. Next year this panel or any one one related to the old members are given in the next Panel. In Metros there should be more than Ten Such Panels to receive and redress complaints - More than 10 Complaints the Taxi company suspended till Transport Commissioner takes decisions on all Complaints for a month which ever is later. more
