Feedback Sought on Train Enquiry System

Some of you have written to us about the train enquiry help line, on counter enquiry and web services. With this post, we would like to seek your inputs on the accuracy, timeliness and detail of information received.

Please share as many detailed inputs as possible. We will consolidate this and provide this to our CRIS and other stakeholders so actions can be taken to improve this service. more

Mr. Arun Kumar's suggestions need immediate implementation without waiting for further inputs. Booking for more than one seat/ berth should be made easier by displaying available seats in all coaches of the train (as done in flight booking) for the customer to choose the seats he/ she wants. more

I am posting with additional feedback from members. Also posted here for your reference. Also we may go with change org petition if there is any need. Humble request you to consider this seriously and implement: ----------------------------------------------------------------- 1. When you book tickets for more than two persons. It is generally expected the passengers to sit together, next to each other. Like husband, wife, children, old age parents etc. But there is no provision to select the seats OR The system does not book in sequence, rather the seats booked randomly (Example: for two passengers 25 and 35 is booked by the system. Expected like 25, 26 or 24, 25). Especially this is problem for ladies. This type of booking causes hassles and need to adjust seats with co-passengers and if not adjusted hassles throughout journey. The system should provide the seat map and coach map and enable the selection. 2. Platform ticket - There is no online platform ticket booking. If you have done online ticket booking and dropping your relatives, friends. You still have to stand in the queue to buy platform tickets. This is again waste of time and energy, does not serve online ticket booking objectives. So there should be provision to buy online platform ticket OR any other option, feature to resolve this concern. 3. The E-tickets one need to take print to show it to TC. Majority of passengers do not have print facility. Printing tickets is not Eco-friendly, additional cost. So the tickets should be sent through SMS to mobile or emails. TC should consider SMS or emails as proof of tickets along with any ID proof as per existing rules, norms. 4. There is great improvements in web pages with very useful information and organized of the information. The web interface still carries misleading advertisements. Need some more consolidation and improvements. 5. When I search for indian railways online booking. Search throws up so many links, looks almost like irctc. This is very confusing and lot of time is wasted in arriving correct web site. So this kind of spam sites, advertised web site's should be controlled with proper rules and regulations. 6. For handicapped, disabled, old age people, Pregnant ladies special provisions like lower births should be made available. 7. There are no Medical stores in railway stations(at least easily accessible OR with enough information where to locate medical stores at least in Major railway stations) There are no good/proper medical facility if there are some they are lacking in standards, so need improvements. 8 Quality of Telephone inquiry is not good in terms of Language, politeness, timeliness, etc. The employees should be properly trained to meet this requirement. 9 Server down and slow access to railways portal - Need to improve stability of computer servers speed and internet links: There is increase in online transaction, Web content access and network and servers are loaded heavily, this trend will continue and may have problems. So Railway should plan for this systems, network, backup data, avoiding power outages, etc. 10. Smart card feature also made available. This helps very frequent travelers saves time. 11. Onward travel booking provision should be provided, this helps many tourists, business trips which are well planned. 12. IRCTC booking App does not work between 8 Am to 12 Noon, Is it reasonable to make it available all the time. 13. There are no dust bins available, at line of sight, to trash the waste. So enough number of dust bins at well planned places should be made available. 14. During online Booking the captcha is not visible for normal person. Need improvements in better Captch visibility.
