Excessive charging by hospitals for medical consumables
As many of you know, LocalCircles over the years has taken up many initiatives on making healthcare more accessible and affordable.
From getting price capping done for stents in 2017 to making MRP display mandatory on medical devices, to getting Government to implement price control on life saving drugs to standardising hospital bill formats, the examples are many.
We are now working with the regulators to see how medical consumables in hospitals are over priced with cost to MRP in some cases reaching 2800% (INR 10 ex factory price to hospitals charging a MRP of INR 290).
To assess the current scenario, we request all members who have had a hospital admission of a family member (2025 or 2026) to share a copy of the hospital bill. In the event you do not wish to post the bill in the circle, you can email it to Alerts@localcircles.com

Yes all the consumables are highly priced (MRP). Even the medicines are also highly priced. more

Government needs to enforce discipline to all medical devices manufacturers, distributors, sellers and other operators to, 1. Bring down the costs of all essential medical devices to not above 10% profit. 2. Enforce every manufacturer to provide servicing of the medical devices with genuine replacement parts for at least after the purchase. They cannot be allowed to escape with explanations. 3. If additionally required, the government must provide subsidy to the individual buyers of the essential medical devices. Make them affordable, available, and popular. more

After the experience of COVID, doctors become looters.2)printing mrp has no control, after GST, earlier the manufacturer was to pay duty considering mrp,but now it's on transaction amount. more
