Excellent job LC on airfare capping case

Watched the NDTV TV show yesterday where the Founder of LocalCircles was putting forward the ask of consumers about fare capping and putting very convincing arguments on why it must be done. The airline reps literally failed to give any logic on why capping shouldn’t be there. In the end one Ajay fellow started using fear that if fares are capped u may not even get a ticket to attend an emergency which u can now pay 50000 for 5000 flight and go. Ridiculous.

Anyways for everyone’s reference here are passenger rights. Keep them handy on your phone:

There must be a capping on maximum price charged on each flight. more
This is a very bad idea to exploit the needy and poor citizens by keeping a dynamic pricing system in the airlines as well as the railways. The civil aviation ministry must intervene and fix the maximum limit of pricing of the domestic air fares. It now appears that the govt. has knowingly allowed the airlines ( all private ) to charge any amount for the air tickets and exploit the unsuspecting travelers, who are forced to pay the higher price which by no means justified. This is highly unfair and such unlimited fare leaves the travelers feeling cheated. Does it not sound absurd that the tickets for the same destination which was available for say 4000/ rupees a couple of days back are now priced at 11000/ or even 20000/. The authorities who should control this monopoly by the airlines seem to be in agreement with the skyrocketing and arbitrarily fixed pricing of the air tickets. Our Hon'ble PM had started the UDAN scheme with the idea that even a poor person wearing "Hawai Chappal" can afford the tickets of these flights to be known as " low cost airlines" under UDAN scheme. This noble idea appears to be forgotten by the authorities in the government as well as the airlines. The LC should keep on pressing these issues for consideration by the govt. and the maximum limit of air tickets price must be capped in consultation with all the stakeholders. The Dynamic system for pricing of Railway tickets also requires relook and revision by the Railway ministry. , more
Fear tactics. If they are so concerned about people in emergecy, why they don't hold few tickets in each flight till last day and release on the same price? If a passenger is in emergency situation, he/she needs to be supported not looted. more
These details should be displayed in every airport and should give media coverage in print as well as digital. Also it should be there in all airlines websites and should in some form be highlighted to passengers like the safety precautions these details also should be made public . more
Air fare must be uniform for all. In present system aircraft companies are looting passengers. I had very recent experience with Indigo, had to pay ₹8317/-, instead of ₹1990/-a week back. Pathetic situations. GOI must look into this, and adopt uniform price system keeping only 5 seats for emergency. In a democratically nation aspiring for Raamrajya a most vibrant system must come up. I am totally against this gambling pricing systems followed by the aircraft companies. Govt of India to kindly intervene in this matter as it is against public welfare. We are a welfare country. Thanks. more
Why only airfare, now even rail fare =gambling + loot the public and neither media nor parliament bothers to discuss such important matters more
