Does DGCA know what it is doing

How can DGCA determine within 3 days that AIr India’s 787 aircraft are all good and have no problems with them. Just how. Paper headlines say a clean chit has been given.

So are they pointing the blame on pilots or maintenance. And if it is maintenance than how a clean chit?

Do not agree with them. A more thorough analysis needed. This survey becomes very relevant. If passengers and pilots are worried how can DGCA discount that ??? more

I agree .One should wait and see the outcome of various investigations going( eg DGCA/NTSB/FAA/Boeing).once reports are made available and then only responsibilities need to be fixed. No political decisions but correct proper actions. more
DGCA is a government body and not a professional maintenance shop. Their competence to judge the airworthiness of aircraft is highly suspect as they have more bureaucrats and a few technocrats sitting in air-conditioned chambers, having a cosy life. It's time the government reconstitutes DGCA as an autonomous body run by independent professionals and funded through a passenger fee allocation, rather than from the government coffers. It's highly unlikely to assume that planes that fly long routes have serious shortcomings in their airworthiness. All machines, including aircraft, need periodic maintenance and part replacements. They are supposed to undergo various rounds of inspection. The competence of maintenance teams could be questioned, but aircraft fly to many stations and are reviewed by different teams. It would be very intriguing if something critical were not getting flagged even by the law of exception. more
I feel, till all the investigations are over there is no point in discussing or blaming anyone Many flights are diverted, delayed or cancelled due to closed Pakistan air space, Iran-Israel war thus longer route for long haul flights Agreed that Air India must take all steps for safety of the passengers more
There seems to be lot of decisions behind closed doors of even PMO for such a foolhardy decision proclaimed. US pressurized through PMO to let it's Boring Expert Technical team to take charge of the Black Box. Naturally they wanted to protect Boeing and pin the crash blame as Pilot error perhaps. Our DGCA has its own expert time who are called by International Airlines to investigate crash/accidents. However this time DGCA seems to have buckled under pressure to give a clean chit to Boeing. They have yet to come out with full disclosure about cause of accident. On 13th June TOI(Delhi) carried a Big bold assertion by Home Minister that due to 1.24L litres of Fuel there was no chance of survival. However a lucky passenger of seat:11A survived and his statement was: the Plane just burst. However I don't think any Boeing or Jet has 1.25L liter Fuel capacity as described by our enlightened H.M. And where is our PM? Business as usual...off to Canada for G7 summit as if nothing has happened. And PM Modi avoided Washington DC I vote and instead went to Canada...snubbing Donald Duck..I mean Trump. more
Seeing the DGCA investigation and report in 3 days reminded me of Aamir Khan's Rang De Basanti - who is being tried to please and the black box report is not available, yet the release of their report is not an attempt to adversely affect the investigation more
