DigiYatra ask to aviation minister

Dear Aviation Minister,

Kindly have your ministry publish the list of non-digiyatra gates at each of the airports so passengers not enrolling on Digiyatra can avail them without any hassle and follow the old process of traveling.

The below survey is worrying and 100 pct validates what many of us have been experiencing

The general perception was that this was an aid to the consumer. However, if data is used for purposes other than intended, it is a major issue. Government selling such data to third parties is also not acceptable. As it is, data privacy is posing major concerns/hurdles in the digital world. more
Digi Yatra claims that "Privacy by Design is our fundamental tenet" Really now? And yet these questions have not been answered. For the facial recognition process, does the bio metric scan software run locally at each airport? To verify an identity, what database do they reference? Where is that database stored? What are the levels of security built in to ensure that it will not get hacked? Or are the images and the photographs uploaded to some central servers? If the latter, are those servers in India? more
Considering that this is another attempt at obtaining bio metric scan data for locational tracking being done surreptitiously, doubtful whether this choice of voluntarily choosing Digi Yatra will be facilitated. Interesting to note, that like Aadhar, this is not a Government entity. Its ownership stands as follows - AAI : 26%, rest is equally divided between DIAL, BIAL, HIAL, CIAL and MIAL airports : 14.8% each. (And before 2 Rupees trolls start questioning this, its from Digi Yatra's own statement) RTI is being used to hide information rather than disclose it. Any data breaches of Aadhar cannot be revealed in the interests of .national security'. Aadhar is anyway incorporated abroad, in Singapore, so to fight a case regarding data breach and misuse, you will have to go there to file a case. The SC has no locus standii on it. The same will apply to Digi Yatra too. Our bio metric scans, locational data goes to a private entity, whose purpose is unknown, data security status is unknown, and RTI blocked. Digi Yatra claims that all data will be deleted after 6 months, but will not submit a declaration in any court of law, to this effect. Facilitate travel? Yeah. Sure. more
