DEMOCRACY & DECISION MAKING :

We, the people of the world’s largest democracy, are slowly becoming too dependent on the Supreme Court—often pushing two pillars of democracy into unnecessary conflict.

Back in school, the definition of democracy—“By the People, Of the People, For the People”—sounded inspiring. But in practice, once leaders are elected, “By” and “Of” the people are sidelined, and “For” the people often turns into “OFF the people,” leaving citizens’ voices ignored or even exploited.

Complaints are growing, especially from the rising lower-middle and middle classes, who deserve a greater role in decision-making. Participation need not be confined to Parliament or Assemblies—public platforms like ours give knowledgeable citizens the chance to highlight issues, suggest corrections, and prevent policies from harming people.

Take the current crisis: automobiles and fuel. For over two decades, engines have been built for specific fuel types. We are nowhere near the standards of the U.S. or China, where rapid transitions are possible. Forcing citizens to discard cars and buy new ones at the whim of a few disconnected decision-makers is unfair and impractical.

TRUE DEMOCRACY MEANS DECISION WITH THE PEOPLE , NOT ABOVE THE PEOPLE . - Jai Hind more

There were 3 pillars of democracy - Law makers i.e. Parliamentarians, Bureaucracy and Judiciary and the 4th pillar was media who used to take the cause of common man with the elected representatives and bureaucracy. Now media has become paid one with no concern for common man and the Parliamentarians have become populist and do not want to take harsh decisions and have outsourced their authority to judiciary. more
The less said about the judiciary, the better. They don't seem to be consistent either with legal provisions or with doing what is right. Moreover, their priorities are very skewed more
The judiciary is almost dedicated to political mockeries all urgent one case to file a crime another caes to restrict the court to take up the case .judges feel disturbed at the dealy of Governer's approval forgetting cases going on in courts for over two to three decades. Courts have been turned as a conveient tool in the hands of criminals to shield them against any offence and to harass the honest law abiding citizens. Politicians cayght in any corrupt or criminal caeses have the courage to challenge that they will face the charges in court. Honest people have become a scarce commdity and judiciary is no exemption. Honesty is the best policy ,but hard cash is the best performer. . more
In fact, today in our country, there is no democracy but mobocracy. Those who have the power to gather the crowd are ruling over the government as well as the judiciary. For example, in the name of agitation, roads/railway stations are taken hostage, and neither the government nor the judiciary can do anything. The roads that were taken hostage in the farmers' agitation could not be vacated even after the order of the SC . The monsoon session of the Parliament has just ended in which the Parliament itself was taken hostage. Is it not a mockery of democracy to talk about democracy even after that? As far as the SC is concerned, today it has lost its credibility to a great extent because the common man is seeing that his case is not being heard, but the doors are open at night for VVIPs. more
