Counterfeit in electronic products
yesterday an example of jbl bluetooth speaker was shared by a member in consumer circle.
it seemed like china made cheap fake product had JBL written on it.
My question is dont such products from china have to take an approval of BIS or some other authority before they can sell in India?
Please advise. more
An importer imports whatever is available under the sun and sells in domestic market. Importer doesn't make any commitment of any standard and BIS has no act on this. more
If importers can sell the products in the local market for a profit, they would not bother about the "quality control clause", even if it is stipulated in a Norm.
For comparison, many products manufactured in India are being sold in our own local market, even if they do not pass the "quality control" tests.
If demand is high, quality takes a backseat.
If demand is low, it's the other way round........ more
Has BIS any standard for such products? If BIS does not have standard, on what basis BIS will give approval. more
It is consumer has to check the originality and terms and conditions, sources of products, Price etc more
Selling imported products do not need BIS certification. more
