Thanks to our conversation and efforts on data privacy over last 5 years, No hotel can now ask for your Aadhaar card now, they can't photocopy it, at least this will apply in India.
Under the new rule, these entities will be required to register with UIDAI before conducting Aadhaar-based verification. Instead of collecting physical copies.

Some form of id is required by hotels. Many don't have driving license, voter id etc. Aadhaar is the govt id they have. Probably, hotels should also follow the airlines and railways. Just check the id to see if it matches with the reservation or checkin. No photocopy or noting details. more
