In a large number of fruit and vegetable markets, the produce comes from local villages in trucks. The remains of the fruits and vegetables should be converted into compost and then sent back in the same trucks to the villages where the produce comes from so that it can be used there. The reverse logistics will help to reduce the cost of compost and also ensure that landfills in urban areas are better utilised for waste that is inert and non recyclable. more
Do not penalize the farmers and traders. Instead penalize the littering public. Why is the government so scared of handing fines to littering public. more
The simple procedure is earmark areas for the vendors to occupy inside the market space and when they leave ask them to clean it. If they are not cleaned it while leaving blacklist them so that next time when they come they may get their place only after paying the penalty. Thanks more
I am from Mumbai. First and foremost - vegetables are grown on the open land adjacent to railway tracks using water from nullahas, which is waste water including water from gutter lines that includes sewerage water and on this open space population defecate. How these vegetables can be clean? These open spaces belong to railways as I understand. If my understanding is correct, Railways should stop such usage. more
