Careless attitude of engine drivers cause accidents
This is about Thane station near mumbai. We travel very often to Pune. We wait at the bogie positions marked on the platform but the trains have NEVER stopped at the designated spot. People run here and there, falling, dropping things and getting into different compartments and then trying to find way to their seats in different bogies creating utter chaos. All this for a two and a half hour journey. 3 written complaints to the station master at different times have not resulted in the desired effect. My aged mother does not want to travel by train because of this. There might be several like her. You need to travel from thane to understand the real trouble. Another big problem is the wide gap between the train and the platform makes the situation all the more dangerous. With the marking on the track for halting the trains why are the drivers not able to stop at the exact position. Why is money wasted on boards to show bogie position. Half of them have vanished and some so dirty that you cant see whats written on it. more
The attitude of the work force in any field is seriously watched as the controlling superivisory cadre is not performing the duties. The lethargic attitude unmindful of service to the public rules the railways. If the train is not stopped at the correct place, the accountability has to be fixed on the engine driver as well on the guard and the step has to be taken by the station master. Mere complaining does not yield results. Many issues are rightfully dealt by the courts and some day the enforcement of the court orders will become a comedy. Hence the employees of railways who are well protected by the unions have to be given instructions accordingly and a fear has to emanate that an erring person will not be spared and punished severely. This message will yield good results. more
