Cabinet expansion

Modi used to say "Sabke saath, sabka vikas". But recent cabinet expansion shows otherwise. Only those states have been rewarded which have voted for BJP. Those states which did not vote for BJP have been shown that "we do not need your votes in future too. We do not care". Tamil nadu,Kerala,Orisa have no representation. Entire north east is represented by lone MOS. Only 2 muslim ministers. Only 1 sikh and no christian minister. Argument that there are no suitable MPs among them does not hold good. Parrikar and Prabhu are not MPs. Electoral consideration is the only criteria used. BIMARU states are heavily represented. Really sad state of affairs giving rise to feeling of descrimination in under-represented states and communities. more

Do you think there are no good people worthy of becoming ministers in these states and communities? more
Joshiji, if that is the case why so many are appointed on caste and electoral considerations alone? Jat from Haryana, each caste from UP/Bihar where elections will be held in 1-2 years. Why lone singer MP from WB? Why did not find any other worthy from entire north east eventhough Assam sent 6 BJP MPs I think. Everything from selecting candidates to selecting ministers is done only on caste vote bank considerations. more
Appointment of ministers is the prerogative of the PM. If PM has to deliver, he must pick his own team. There is no requirement to stick quota; quota for regions, for states, for communities, for minorities etc. etc. The country this time has voted more for Modi than for BJP or for NDA. The onus to deliver is on Mr Modi. Some amount of electoral undertones will always be there. This is the negative side of electoral politics and of democracy. If in-spite of what you have mentioned, Mr Modi is able to deliver good governance and development, then he would measures up to expectations of people who voted for him. If he does not, (I am sure he will) the voters will get an opportunity in 2019 to bring a change. Till then it is in our interest as citizens to support him, to participate in his programs and help him in taking the country forward. more
