I would like to bring to the notice of residents the unsatisfactory experience we have had with the Gurgaon Citizens Council, 49 Arjun Marg. We joined this Council recently for the purpose of assistance with various matters. We needed to have our Driving Licences renewed and went to the Passport Office on 17 August after fixing an appointment with the Council representative. We were assisted with the formalities and told that our licences would be delivered to the Council Office in 15 days. We were asked to pay Rs 2,000. When we returned home and checked the Net we found that the fee for licence renewal is Rs 200. This fact is also corroborated by an article in Times of India dared 18 August....which says there is a proposal to raise the fee from Rs 200....which also means the fee is 200. We have not been able to get a satisfactory response from the Council Office who insist that the fee is 800. This is for information of residents. It is a matter of grave concern that Harijan Colony adjoining Icon and Pinnacle in Dlf phase V is in such a deplorable condition. There is a dirty Drain (Ganda Naila) right outside which is a breeding ground for mosquitoes and has dirty pigs roaming freely. There is no proper sanitation or cleaning and an ideal place for all the diseases such as dengue, malaria and swine flu. Almost all the domestic workers catering to the posh DLF Phase V apartments live in this Colony and are potential carriers of infection.. The Municipal authorise do not seem to be doing anything about this state of affairs. Perhaps appeals by residents may do something to shake them out of their apathy. @Venita, Every where Employer has to perform background check not the employee and Senior Citizens are more vulnerable. There are verification register where Employer has to sign and provide the details. If we are giving option to Maids / Servants then there is a possibility that they can provide fake verification paper to employer. Because of that responsibility is given to employer. Further it is totally dependent on the thought whether you really want secure yourself or no. Like I have experienced when I have ask some of the maids to come along with me for verification then they refused and I have removed them. more
