Banks collapsing, when authorities woke up!

One more bank, YES bank collapsed dashing hopes of all depositors. Do not know why the regulatory systems are not able prevent this situation. We proudly talk about RBI, Finance Ministry, SEBI and above all Finance Ministry are there to watch, monitor, regulate etc., of these institutions, but no one is taking right steps to prevent and allowing poor depositors to suffer. Now as per papers, the lending is more than assets, default in repayments etc., are reasons for collapse.
My question is, for the fault of bank why depositors are to suffer?
This is not first instance public are suffering for banks' faults. Charminar Bank, PMC bank, fraud in PNB etc., are glaring examples of failure of regulatory /Audit system/Vigilance etc., ultimately making depositors to cry.
Could not understand why Govt. of India the supreme authority is not taking appropriate steps through its bodies to prevent reckless lending, secured repayments etc.
This is a horrible situation, allowing only depositors to suffer and allowing defaulters and fraudsters live happily. There is no dearth for examples like Malyas, Lalit Modi, Choksis etc, who duped banks and enjoying life.

At least it is the time now for Govt. of India to take responsibility for all such defaults, wake up and tighten the rope to protect many citizens who deposit hard earnings for safety and future needs. more

If possible depositors money be insured in addition to of Govt assurance of Rs 5 lakh. If required It may be made optional to depositors to pay insurance premium to secure total money. May be worth considering. more
From the behaviour of our so called big business houses it is clear that majority of them are big by adopting dishonesty and malpractices. Their only aim is to become bigger by duping public money through the banks as loan and not to pay back ever. Our banks are teethless in forcing this category of borrowers to repay as they have to act under directives of RBI and the government. Even our courts apply a different approach in dealing with the cases against these dishonests. But in all such cases the bankers are made the scapegoats of being corrupt and incompetent. This trend needs to be changed immediately and the bankers be delegated with adequate discretion to initiate all necessary actions to recover all dues from this category of borrowers. As far as YES bank is concerned, the leading banks of the country have already come forward to rescue it and therefore, the depositors need not to worry of security of their money. more

We should be more careful while keeping our hard earned money is any bank. All depositors should demand to know percentage of non performing assets (NPA) in total assets of the bank in which you want to keep your money. If they exceed 4% know for sure that that bank is heading for collapse. Problem with depositors is they are not properly educated about bank activities, generally they go by publicity of a bank through advertisements. This should stop. Hereafter do not depend upon RBI to protect your money they are not to protect your money know for sure. more
