BEWARE SENIOR CITIZENS – IRCTC e- ticketing system makes you surrender the

SENIOR CITIZEN CONCESSION :
A useful Message making the rounds :
While booking Train tickets. For travelling in trains Senior citizens have been given concession as below:
40% Concession in fare for Men over 60 years of age and
50% Concession for Women over 58 years of age .

The concession was given after much deliberations and discussions as a welfare measure towards senior citizens.

Now while booking train tickets online through IRCTC,
now a screen appears at the time of booking with two tricky option
for the senior citizens to give up the concession so far availed.

The screen comes with two option *OK* to give up the concession and *Cancel* to proceed booking with concession.

YOU MAY THINK THAT
*OK MEANS THAT YOU WANT TO CONTINUE WITH THE CONCESSION AND*
*CANCEL MEANS TO FOREGO THE CONCESSION.*
IN RAILWAY'S PARLANCE IT IS NOT SO. It should be YES or NO.

So they indulge in such jugglery of words to confuse the senior citizens/passengers.

As IRTC is now using technical words to loose your senior citizen benefits..... Forever
*Just spread the awareness...* πŸ‘

The feeling among passengers booking is that if β€œCANCEL” is clicked it would be interpreted by the IRCTC β€œ CANCEL TO AVAIL THE CONCESSION β€œ – This seemed to have happened in a couple of cases .

Why not Railways instruct the IRCTC to be clear and also honest in their questionnaire to elicit the right information before booking ?
Why should 2 Questions be combined for 2 different issues . That confuses the passengers booking tickets leading to loss of their Money .
The 2 Questions should be very clear from the IRCTC :

* One is to bring proof of age ,
* the other to confirm availing concession . IRCTC make it simple & hassle free .

Should the passengers β€œSpoon feed the computer staff ” , β€œCan’t the staff foresee how it will be Perceived by the tense Passenger β€œ . more

THIS BENEFIT WAS GIVEN BY A POLITICIAN SOME YEARS AGO FOLISHLY . BUT THEY HAVE NOT REALIED IT HAS INDIRECTLY HELPED THE RAILWAYS TO INCREASE OCCUPANCY RATE ON WEEK DAYS.

INSTEAD WHY CAN'T THE RAILWAY MINISTER ASK ALL THE RAILWAY EMPLOYEES AND THE BOARD MEMBERS TO GIVE UP 50 % OF THE FREE PASSES ,P.T.O'S TOTALLY ? more
Thank you for info. This should be taken up. more
Railway only targets to earn revenue is from passengers pocket. more
Always the railway want to confuse and put the senior citizens to loose the benefit. One day the page designer will be opt to loose such other benefit too.
The railway officials should care about the elders and make the old people to have their journey hastle free and assistance. Should they give respect to seniors. We did not want a Nobel reception like in Korean or japanese. more
Thankyou for this advice. Very useful for sure . more
