BCCI give the nation a break from IPL drama

It has just been less than 24 hours since India suffered a dastardly terrorist attack. There is hurt, pain and anger amongst every Indian. Many young lives, some newly weds, some on family vacation, all unarmed, were killed by armed and evil militants. Those killed include:

1. Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, just 26, A Newlywed Naval Officer on his honeymoon.
2. Shubham Dwivedi, a businessman from Kanpur, married for just over two months and on a honeymoon trip with his wife.
3. Bharat Bhushan, a resident of Bengaluru, was on vacation with his wife, Sujata, and their 3-year-old son.
4. Manjunath Rao, a realtor from Karnataka's Shivamogga district, was enjoying a family vacation in Kashmir with his wife and son.
5. Manish Ranjan, an intelligence bureau officer, Serving the Nation, was killed.
6. Corporal Tage Hailyang of the Indian Air Force, hailing from Ziro in Arunachal Pradesh, was among the victims.

But it is business usual for BCCI. We are back to IPL. The flags are back. Cricket is back. ‘The show must go on’ is nothing but an excuse to continue the business. Shah Rukh khan and Ajay Devgan are back to encouraging you to have Vimal. The Betting apps led by Dream11 are back.

I can still understand individuals making a living. But BCCI is different. It represents India. It works for India. Couldn’t it have taken a step back? Just for a day? Show some heart? Some conviction?

We are a sick nation. Our patriotism stops where business starts. Our humanity ends when money talks. From buying Chinese goods to enjoying IPL, we are back to who we really are - selfish, self-Centered and money minded. Nothing ride matters. more

The reason why these incidents keep happening is that there is no decisive solution to these issues from politicians. They keep the problems simmering, and then incidents take place. We have had a rogue state in our neighbourhood for 75 years. Why not fix them so they never ever think of doing anything like this? There is no doubt that terrorists have handlers and sympathisers within our own country. How is a state allowing this? Is the information network so weak that they cannot even fathom what is going on? Lakhs of Hindus were driven out of Kashmir, and the demographics have been changing rapidly. What is done to fix that? Removing Article 370 or making Kashmir a union territory is just a scratch on the surface when larger problems are not addressed. This needs strong and decisive action. Local Kashmiris are concerned about their tourism and livelihood, but that cannot happen in isolation if they do not follow the constitution for other things. A fenced border and troops all over the place can never be a long-term solution. The problem needs to be uprooted at a different level. We should not be a meek nation of idiots, not doing anything and hoping that time will heal everything. When the other side has people beyond reparation, these things will not work. There is no moderate Islam, it is not a religion of peace and harmony as they allow no space to any other, though they expect it from other quarters. more
bharat should straight away like what israel does from their country to destroy hamas bharat should also destroy ISI and as one remembers parliament building and taj attach bharat should also destroy their parliament and their terrorist hideoouts through drones and satellite locations which is not a big idea and there are countries like israel who will help india in this. All terrorist camps can be located and destroyed. Also bharat should support afghanisthan and baluchisthan to destroy pakisthan similar to what they are doing here This is high time we take some serious action otherwise daily people will be killed in jand k for no fault of theirs more
We should declare NATIONAL MOURNING. This will highlight this terrorism. more
Yes. Well said sir Sri Das. It is very sad. We pass indignant messages in social media and think that our duty is over. Before we expect the government to do anything, let us ask ourselves the following 3 questions: 1- Do we all go out and vote? Last Lok Sabha election Central Chennai (where I stay) polled just abou 54%, the least in Tamil Nadu. This has at least 70% literacy. 2- How many people indulge in the pernicious practice of 'note for vote' which was popularised by the Tirumangalam formula? 3- How many people vote blindly based only on religion which is emphasized in places of worship? We will get proper leaders only if people start voting without being bribed either by cash on the polling day or the promise of freebies before election. more
Hope that the perptrators are soon caught. Also hope that the steps taken by GOI are just a begining and further action would follow more
