Ban on RO units consultation

The Govt via ministry of environment is looking at putting a ban on RO in areas where ground water is classified as pure with TDS level as below 500 and meets BIS criteria for potable water.

They want to consult people but have issued a 25 page document.

Can local circle please coordinate with ministry and see how this can be done properly. I have a feeling that otherwise only feedback of companies will reach and very few people will comment. more

In Nagpur the corporation supplied water is not well purified. Moreover the water survey of Well water and corporation water is needed. Sample survey of Nagpur in regards with this is needed. more
In Jaipur, Rajasthan, where well treated Bisalpur water is supplied, NO need of RO. Rather wastage of 40% water. People follow neighbors and has become a status symbol. more
Dear Vinita Its almost practically impossible for any government to implement a ban which covers partial territory. My suggestion is to completely BAN machines fitted with only RO technology. And instead use RO with UV machines. These machines use blending and waste water that has been treated can be used for drinking. So blending will save some amount of water. Plus We need the RWA to install additional pipelines from every kitchen to water harvesting drain. Albeit a herculean task, don't see any other alternative.
