500 cities of India have been selected for AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) Mission which focuses on rejuvenation of existing cities. 50,000 Crores have been allocated to AMRUT
The purpose of AMRUT is to (i) ensure that every household has access to a tap with assured supply of water and a sewerage connection; (ii) increase the amenity value of cities by developing greenery and well maintained open spaces (parks); and (iii) reduce pollution by switching to public transport or constructing facilities for non-motorized transport (e.g. walking and cycling).

It is a great idea by the present government. the idea needs to be transformed into reality only with and through coordinated actions. As investment comes in for such cities also comes along corruption at each level which actually takes away a fairly major share of the capital. also a blue print and a master plan be deliberated and fixed taking views from all stake holders. the master plan should be keeping in view the anticipated proliferation and growth 20 yrs hence. the following also needs to be considered:- 1. Waste disposal and waste recycling plans .suitable industry or units needs to come up. 2. As already said sewage treated and recycled water needs to be optimally used. Max for green projects. Suitable STPs with modern processes needs to be installed of high capacity. 3. All cities have parking problems. Parking including that of visitors should be inbuilt to all housing commercial and govt projects. No roads/lanes/bylanes be utilized for parking. 4. Facility management of assets and facilities and systems be outsourced to competent FMCs. 5. Cabling; installation of Towers and DTH cable TVs network, Telephone lines and water lines to houses needs special attention. Where ever possible be underground and properly networked. 6. Walk ways, jogging tracks, gym, swimming pool and mini sports and recreation complex and shopping complex be so conveniently and centrally located for max utilization. Malls be limited to max two with multiplex. 7. All commercial, and residential complexes must compulsorily adopt alternative energy system such as solar energy, wind energy etc for water heaters, emergency lighting, cooking purposes etc 8. Public system mgt system should be strengthen for max utilization. more

amruth is a real nice plan For any plan to be implemented city municipal plays a very important role if they are motivated to work honestly without any intervention as per master plan requirement and start monitoring and penalizing faults stop encroachment things will change and for execution of work give it to companies who are with professional approach and 100 % dedication to work .and a monitoring team to monitor without any compromise appoint 4 person for each city and getting 2000 non corrupt people in the country is not a big job more

Please fix some days when only the cars having the odd last digit(1,3,5,7)on their number plate will be allowed to ply on the roads and some days for even number.So people will either make pool or use public transport.This will reduce pollution problem to some extent. more
