Air Purifier Standards

Given the air in Delhi, it is important that the standards for air purifiers are not set very high (if mandatory).

Otherwise only these large multinationals will sell them. Very important that the cost of air purifiers is brought down to 500-1000 rupees from current 8000-30000.

Standards create a cost barrier so be mindful BIS. more

STANDARDS ARE ALWAYS TO ENSURE MINIMUM PERFORMANCE PARAMETERS AND DO NOT HAVE ANY CORELATION WITH COST. more
better use plants like Tulsi, Money plant, snake plants, palm trees , aloe-vera plants and many more which are natural air purifiers and can be kept inside homes , no need of air purifiers as they are mere psychological machines with zero benefits more
Environment pollution at the most congested places does not let the plants to grow healthy. Unless congestion, unauthorised constructions, encroachments and there is no point in planting greenery.

For example, people have encroached and living under the flyover overs in Delhi in countless and one can easily find people cooking, washing, sleeping etc etc. This is the condition all across the country.

See all along the railway lines people having shanties.

See any new society, colony, market place (like, Nehru Place in Delhi, Green Park, Yusufsarai,Safdarjang & Aiims hospitals, et al and the encroachments abound. Unless the Government shuns the game of politics in managing civic services, no amount of media talk will bring out resulsts. more
Standards are set at the minimum desirable - for air purifiers, the Standards should be the minimum for survival or the maximum for healthy living? more
what use of taxing its citizens when goi cannot even provide basics good air good water right priced electricity - noida incresed by 12.5 5 very recently good food at affordable prices - onions are rs 80 per kg right now / basic necessities etc etc - all cannot afford air purifiers and many no employment even //// useless govt in power specially central govt / more
After 6th pay commission, the job market saturated
as major part of budget is spent on salaries and pensions. Even Army is spending more than 85%
of budget on salries/pensions and very little amount
is left for procuring weapons/fighter planes. Same
is the problem with railways. more
Only a handful of people can afford air purifiers or can be installed in some institutions. Still more than 80% of population will get affected by the air pollution 24x7. All political parties must understand the gravity of situation and forget vote ban politics in the interest of public at large. The ruling party must act firmly against the individuals/ entities who generate pollution and the opposition should not side with such bodies to keep an eye on winning next election. This approach has virtually created lawlessness in every field. Alternatively, there should be President Rule in the country for 5 years to stem the rot of mis-governance during the last 50 years. more
Rana Sahib, this blame game and politics will continue; technical solutions have to be found and citizens must themselves take initiatives so that startups in this field come up. There was a time when electric irons were imported or smuggled into India. Then the time came when the electric irons started being manufactured as a small scale industry. Now these small scale industries are being closed in view of cheap Chinese goods. You should not be surprised to find that even the air purifiers being distributed by MNCs at exorbitant prices are all Made in China. more
