AC temperatures to be regulated by Government

Govt is implementing a new provision on AC temperatures soon. The temperature standardization for ACs will be set between 20°C to 28°C, meaning we won't be able to cool below 20°C or warm above 28°C. This is a first-of-its-kind experiment, aiming to standardize temperature settings.

It is a ridiculous move by the Urban Development Minister. What are your thoughts?

It is to save energy. We should support it. more
It's a meaningless thought. Failed to understand why Govt. is so serious about it. How many people are really moving to such temp. at house, perhaps not even on percent of the consumes. It's a shear wastage of time and money only. Now a days consumers are truly judicious. more
It is not a ridiculous move. Only we are not weighing it proportionally on its merits. Important is do we require such lower temp considering our average weather conditions. As well to lower temp much more energy we need to spend. Practically many sets at temp 22 to 27 only. So let us encourage such moves. more
What about then Govt cutting trees in a large number, why can't they move trees from one place to other like other countries i'e' Japan. more
It is for the environment as lowering AC temperature than the surroundings requires more electricity which is obtained by burning fossil fuels. Electricity pricing is market determined and not according to environmental sustainability, with present comfort being made out with the planet's future. more
I found people always criticize government on any action taken. the ideal room temperature in chemistry or architecture is 23 - 25 C below that our body feel uncomfortable. from past 12 year my AC temperature set to 26 - 27 C and we didn't feel any discomfort, room cool easily in hot 50 C temp in Delhi. Monthly power bill around 2 - 3 K for 2 AC. People who don't have mind or IQ directly blame PM. Its a research done by Govt and found usefulness of this setting. Just see how much we will save in terms of bill / carbon emission. Also they thought Modi will come to their home and restrict the AC setting. Its for future AC units not it your home. more
