Aadhaar becomes Optional
I commend all the members who stood up against the forced Aadhaar in these circles. Aadhaar has become optional, thanks to the courts and one can now opt out of it so your information isnt compromised in a mass way.
The Supreme Court had ordered against the government’s orders to make linking of Aadhaar number a must to avail almost all government services and even the private services like the mobile phone. The SC had upheld the sanctity of Aadhaar but with condition.
The initial UIDAI proposal suggested that once an individual turns 18, he/she would be given six months to decide if he wants to withdraw from Aadhaar. The Law Ministry, however, reportedly recommended that the option to withdraw be made to all citizens regardless of the age group.
The proposal also says that those who opt out of the Aadhaar scheme, won’t be able to avail the government schemes and subsidies where linking Aadhaar is a mandatory. more

On one hand people complain about fraudsters and on other hand when government tries to tighten up things, people oppose. People travel abroad, give everything there without protest but back home they are concerned about privacy, just like, not throwing garbage on the streets when abroad and once in India start throwing garbage out. more

Why Aadhar is opposed in such a way while we all had been compromising with our identity even before introducing Aadhar by giving all our details excepting biometrics for getting services from the banks and any other establishments?
