A complete revival of education system
Dear patriots,
I would like to suggest a complete revival of the current educational system. The current system is only based on the western education system I.e learning of various subjects like maths, science etc. There is much more to learning; morality, humanity, culture tradition etc. The ancient Indian education system included these and thus produced great individuals. The current education system presents a stressful, competitive environment which not only instills the wrong qualities like jealousy, hatred etc, but also completely hinders the positive development of a child. A educational system should be so revised such that it is a perfect blend of ancient Indian educational system and the western education system. The system should not be stressful for a child. It should give equal importance to other activities such as sports, dance, music, arts etc. If this be incorporated, we can soon have a younger generation who're strong individuals and who can build a great nation together! more

Yes I am totally agreed with you. The education system that we have right now is just there to produce the white collared clerks like the British wanted it to and since we just copied it from them with a few additions of our own, this education system is especially built to kill the creativity and innovation out of a child and just forces a kid to mug things up instead of understanding whats really happening. Also excessive focus on the grades just adds up to the above mentioned. But today's policymakers are also at fault. Just to quote an example, when DU introduced its four year courses, the criticism associated with it was obvious because it was such a quick decision without a comprehensive research about how it should be and without much expected views and suggestions from the professors and the students themselves. Whereas when similar kind of decision was taken in China, it was a result of a decade of efforts, which included necessary changes in the senior secondary education, incorporation of the suggestions from the faculty and the the students, also it was made according to the demand of the market which'd ultimately benefit the students in a fruitful manner. BUt that wasn't the case in India. So I guess its high time we need to look into our education system and modify according to the need of the hour. more

Higher Education needs real attention from the govt. In olden era, one knows who is UGC chairman ?. Now how many knows present Chairman. Same is true for most of central University chancellors and other educational/research institutions. Of course one can blame state and say that state Universities VC's are appointed by states and their regime. However, if one really insist like an ordinance or bill, or through funding restrictions one can bring them to book. DST/DAE/UGC etc. should fund individual research projects at Universities/institutions through modern evaluation tools like h-index etc. more
