A CIVIC ISSUE THAT NEEDS URGENT, HUMANE ACTION -SAFE SHELTERS FEEDING AREAS FOR STRAY DOGS :
They are rightly called “stray dogs”—with no legal owner. Not even dog feeders or dog lovers formally own them or take responsibility for them. By definition and by law, they qualify as stray dogs.
Hence, it becomes the duty of the administration to act decisively and humanely. These dogs must be impounded, and public announcements should be made through the press and other media. They should be kept under care for a reasonable period, during which individuals or organisations may ADOPT THEM AND OBTAIN THE REQUIRED LICENCE.
If unclaimed after due process, the administration must consider HUMANE EUTHANASIA (MERCY KILLING), strictly following veterinary and ethical guidelines. This is not cruelty; rather, it is a painless but necessary step to prevent greater suffering—for both humans and animals.
The urgency is evident when we consider reproduction. A single female dog, over its lifetime of about 10–12 years, can give rise to HUNDREDS OF OFFSPRING THROUGH SUCCESSIVE GENERATIONS OF FEMALE PUPPIES. Without population control, the problem multiplies exponentially (the word usd for Covid -19 spread), leading to INCREASED DOG BITES, ROAD ACCIDENTS, FEAR AMONG CHILDREN AND ELDERS, AND IMMENSE SUFFERING FOR THE DOGS THEMSELVES.
THIS IS NOT A QUESTION OF BEING ANTI-DOG OR ANTI-ANIMAL LOVER. IT IS ABOUT PUBLIC SAFETY, URBAN HYGIENE, PUBLIC HEALTH AND COMPASSIONATE GOVERNANCE. A STRUCTURED, LAWFUL, AND HUMANE POLICY IS THE ONLY SUSTAINABLE WAY FORWARD—FOR CITIZENS AND ANIMALS ALIKE. Jai Hind more
