4 years of Swachh Bharat: Inputs on Way Forward

Below is the link to the performance assessment of 4 years of Swachh Bharat. Many of you have participated in the circle surveys over the years and this year's assessment is a good reflection of the state of things.
Based on the survey results it does seem like this mission is finally having a positive impact on the ground. While a lot is still to be done in terms of civic body reforms, driving enforcement and accountability, ensuring sustainability and linking Swachh Bharat to Swasth Bharat, it is a good milestone for the mission.

Please go through the report, share with your social media contacts and esp your Municipal Commissioner so they can work on key areas like timely fogging drives or making numbers of municipal councilors and staff available.

Also, do suggest what should the Government do in year 5 in terms of policy specific changes that will help build on the progress so far! more

Cleanliness has improved, but still there is tremendous scope for further improvements.Specially by Municipal corporation of Greater Mumbai. more
Observing a corner keeping itself clean cannot and should not be concluded as the pulse of the country. A million Modis will not succeed if the Indian in us is not ready to keep our homes and our own surroundings clean. At the same time, it is and should be the responsibility of the authorities to organise collection and disposal of the garbage. more
1. SUPERVISORS SHOULD BE PENALIZED FOR ANY NEGLIGENCE. 2. GIVE REWARDS TO THOSE WHO KEEP THEIR AREA CLEAN. 3. GIVE REWARDS TO THOSE WHO MAINTAIN GREEN AREAS AND MAKE IT BEAUTIFUL. 4. I HAVE AN IDEA TO CONVERT GARBAGE INTO MATERIALS USED FOR CIVIL WORKS. 5. INITIALLY HOSPITALS SEGREGATES INFECTIOUS GARBAGE, BUT WHAT HAS BEEN DONE AT 'KOORA GHARS'? LIKEWISE WE USED TO THROW WET GARBAGE SEPARATELY, BUT DON'T THINK THERE IS PROPER MECHANISM FOR IT. 6. MUNICIPLE PEOPLE HAVE TO CLEAR 'KOORA GHERS' DAILY BUT THEY CLEAR ONCE IN A WEEK RESULTING IN PILE OF GARBAGE, SHABBY LOOK, FOUL SMELL, MOSQUITOES ETC. more
There have been positive results: Indian cities are much cleaner than before. People have been educated a lot. this was missing during Congress Raj who never bothered about this problem. more
I am happy people are at least getting awareness of Cleanliness. It will take another five years to make it a success. But GOOD beginning. No doubts. more
