It is actually a 'Force majeure event' -unforeseen and uncontrollable event - a war situation. Under these situations Government can prioritize Schedules of transport in the interest of National security. I recall the period of Chinese aggression in the early 1960s, when India was still a poor country. The Union Government launched several fund-raising initiatives to support the national defense. One such initiative included an extra stamp on postal items to generate additional revenue. State governments also took part in mobilizing resources. During this time, Tamil Nadu contributed a remarkable ₹6 crore to the National Defense Fund (NDF), and similar efforts were undertaken by other states across India. During the conflicts in 1971 and again in 1999 (particularly in May, though my memory is a bit unclear regarding fund collections - our economy was far better), the nation saw similar wartime preparations. There were blackout drills, air raid sirens, and general alerts. However, unlike some other countries, India did not construct civilian trenches during these periods. more
Mr. Rai has raised a very selfish question. Everyone is so engaged in the question of national security/ importance which is of utmost importance for the nation whereas for him, refund overrides this war like situation. He does not have the patience to wait for a day. He is surely not one affected. Really deplorable. Have some nationalistic feeling. more
Full refund and for defence forces, Airindia has announced zero cancellation charges for tickets booked till 31st May and no charges for change of plan for dates till 30th June. Please be positive sometimes. more
Full refund has been anounced. And it it gets delayed bear it with a smile as the reason for shut down is in the country's interest. more
Considering the situation which is a force majeure event, airlines will give the option to refund fares or reschedule flights. more
