100 SMART CITIES
I listened to the speech of the Honorable PM Narendra Modi ji. As usual he started with Emergency clamped by Indra ji in 1975 and JP revolution which gave birth to 4 JANTA PARIVAR PARTY of today. He proposed a memorial for JP. So he is embracing all leaders of other parties. Now there are 52 cities over the population of 1 million. Delhi-NCR is clubbed as one in these 52 cities. But our real urbanization has taken place around Mumbai -PUNE, Delhi- NCR,
CHENNAI-BANGALORE, Kolkatta, HYDERABAD, AHEMDABAD, CHANDIGARH, only. Now PM is talking
of LUCKNOW/ALLAHABAD/KANPUR/ like cities which
have made very slow progress in 60 years. There are many other cities of other states like PATNA,COCHIN, TRIVANDRUM, whic may be in the 52 cities. While our main Industrial cities are JAMSHEDPUR, JAMNAGAR, INDORE etc. Ideas are all good. But focus should be 1.SKILL CREATION, 2. MAKE IN INDIA 3. JOB CREATION. 4. TVDP- TOTAL VILLAGE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM 5. BASIC INFRASTRUCTURE of Electricity, Roads, REFINERIES, WATER. 6. Root out corruption 7. ENERGIZING THE GOVERNMENT MACHINERY. Let the present system gear up to these needs and show results or perish. Dead woods should be shown door faster, Let us talk less and work more in a focused manner. more

Fact is that large scale migration is taking place from villages to urban area because agriculture has become unviable only as landholding is micro sized now. Rapid industrialization is needed for which land is required. Agriculture has to be done on commercial lines. more

What about corrupt, inefficient & insensitive Government employees. They will eat up all the projects Modi proposed if they are not controlled more

The state should better place greater priority on helping out the suicide committing farmers across the country, eradicating illiteracy & child labour first. These benevolent tasks would not be less than any mahayagnas and would require huge funds. Statues & memorials are great source of inspiration for future generation to do good work. More memorials and less good work wouldn't be a good combination. The regime of subsidies to non- BPL population must immediately be revoked across the board and funds so saved diverted for upliftment of rural poor & needy. Higher order development like smart cities need be funded by remaining spare funds. more
