We fail to pay attention at the time of town planning and make a lot of noise when our cities are flooded. Please let me know what did we do about our town panning a few years back, and in what way have we learnt some lessons now? What are our plans for the future for these ills and how do we intend modifying our behaviour in this direction for the future. As long as we don't improve our knowledge and modify our behaviour for the future, forget a better future. These floods and droughts will visit us periodically in the future, and we will be blaming one party or the other. We cannot have a better future.
Nearly half a century ago one of my lecturers used to say "the result of unlawful pleasure, is lawful pain" . I am amazed at the wisdom of his words.

These incidences of flooding in cities prove beyond doubt that the Govt cannot trust Engineers and Planners and force the people to suffer the vagaries of nature. Administrators (MD/CEO) too are equally useless. Everybody's only interest is minting money. Modi Ji is requested to import Technocrats and implement the development projects. more
Well said. The present governments must implement these in smart cities at least . A pilot study can be done in new priciples of modern town/city planning in new satellite cities . more
Admit your Mistake and Rectify it is the only way to Success no blame game. more
Start using the basic principles of Engineering and get the acts in order. Unplanned development, all around encroachment, construction to please the political bosses and the lack of future planning is the result of all that we see in Metro cities. Instead of deferring the problem for a future date or a future government or a future officer to be posted we need to take responsible step. With all round concrete where does the water flow when the land to absorb the water is covered and no drainage to take care of the flow more
