The DTH service providers work in an oligopoly where there is not much competition. In absence of strict rules and regulations to save consumer interest, they indulge in unfair consumer practices by providing inferior service for the full fee / passing on the additional cost arising as a result of their ineffeciency.
They also charge for Dish, set top box and other instruments seperately. While they outsource such work to local vendors, they pass on the full cost to the consumers.

Instruments mentioned above which are enablers for cable broadcast agency should be taken care by the service provider himself.
As this service can be compared to a telecom operator, sim card (enabler) is not sold at an additional cost. It is also replaced free of cost if it is faulty. On similar lines, set top box / dish / antenna should be replaced / repaired without any cost for the consumer.
