Beware HDFC Credir Card Holders

Dear Sir,
Kindly read my experience with your bank.

On 04/01/2020 received SMS from sender VK-HDFCBK which reads,’’ALERT: Rs.1330.00 spent via CREDIT Card XX8999 at HDFCERGO1447067 on 2020-01-04:05:35:26 without PIN/OTP. Not you? Call 18002586161’’.
I called the toll free number and considering it as fraudulent activity, I had to block the card. Some body took over and proposed me politely to purchase a card protection policy, a kind of insurance valid for 3 years for which I have to pay Rs.500 in 24 instalments for a total of Rs.12000/- or Rs.10238/- in single payment which would cover all my credit and debit cards against loss due to any means, fraudulent activity and I would be charged nothing.
They followed up twice and finally I did not accept the offer. I filled up the cardholder dispute form with all details and sent to cc.disputes@hdfcbank.com . Rs.1330.00/ was refunded.
I received a new card and Rs.118/- was debited & I paid.
My personal opinion:
HDFC ERGO and HDFC Bank are under same umbrella. From the above sequence of events, anyone can make out that HDFC ERGO wanted to sell a policy and HDFC Bank helped them by the above fraudulent activity. When such fraudulent activity happens a cardholder normally seek help to block the card. It showed that the card is not secured from fraudulent activity by the HDFC Bank, the service provider.
The time was ripe for HDFC ERGO to manipulate the mind of the already nervous/shaken person by above fraudulent activity and sell the policy. Since then I have stopped using HDFC Bank credit card.
I do not know, how many of the HDFC card holders have fallen prey to this business module.
